Press Release for August 13th Jamboree

Dogwood Jamboree Presents

"Just Call It Country"

The Palestine Dogwood Jamboree produced by Dan Manuel will present "Just Call It Country" Saturday night August 13th at the Palestine High School auditorium at 7 P.M.    The Palestine High School auditorium is located 2 blocks east of Hwy 19 south and Loop 256 in Palestine.   “We are so excited about returning to the stage with this show” said Dan Manuel producer.  We continue to receive numerous in state and out of state revues about our performances.   Well the time is here.  The Jamboree is in the midst of its 18th year of production. The August show will feature several artists who are eager to perform some of the great songs of the past as a tribute is made to country music artists who performed the original artists.  The show proves to be an exciting evening and one you will enjoy.    Also featured that night will be Jodi Brown of Corsicana recording artist and "The Gent Mountain Grassburs" of the Palestine Area.    If you like classic country music, you will love this show.    “Classic Country music will fill the auditorium that evening.  Performances by the artists will really bring back memories of a few years ago when some of these songs were leading the country charts with number one hits” said Dan Manuel producer of the show.  Joe Hancock,  “Flo”, Cheryl McLen, Gina Mitchell of Gladewater, Rodney Ray,   Mike Kellogg,  "Jus C. Leroy" and "Kid Roy" and  Manuel will be performing on the show as well.    Four young people will be competing in the Jamboree Talent search contest.  The contestants are all eighteen years of age or under.  “These kids are super talented and will help make the evening an enjoyable experience. The winner will move to the finals on Dec. 10th to compete for “Artist of the Year” and will receive a large cash award and a plaque naming them “Artist of the Year for 2022”.   There are many talented young people in the East Texas area and many of them never get a chance to perform on venues like the Jamboree, so we have taken the liberty to allow them to do so” stated Dan Manuel producer.   We encourage all young people who would like to be on the show to schedule an audition.  Those wishing to audition for the October 22nd venue can call 903-724-2556 or 903-729-7080.  Those auditioning for the talent search contest must be eighteen years or younger. There is no entry fee for auditioning.

“The Jamboree quality and the performers are equal in many respects, to other country music productions” according to Manuel.   If you have never attended one of the shows, make a point to bring the family out and enjoy the music, artists and comedy at the evening performance and vote for your favorite artist in the talent search contest.

All of these young people competing are excited.  The winner on the show that night will be selected by a panel of judges and audience vote.  The show is sponsored by local businesses and is designed as “family entertainment”.  Children often appear on the show as well as adults of varying ages.  “Many of the people who attend on a regular basis always return. This show is sure to be one of our best shows of the year as everyone is ready to get out of the house for a little entertainment” stated Manuel.  “Some of the best classic country songs and hits will live in our memory and the performers that night will try to recreate some of the sounds and music that country music fans have listened to through the years,” Manuel said. The show starts at 7 P.M. and doors open at 6 P.M.  At the intermission door prizes donated by local merchants and businesses will be given away. For those out of town wanting additional information about the show or for those wishing to purchase advanced tickets can call 903-729-7080 or 903-724-2556.  All Tickets are $18.00 per adult and $8.00 for children six through ten years of age.  No discount tickets will be available for this performance. Children under five years get in free.
