Dogwood Jamboree to Begin Its 16th year

The Palestine Dogwood Jamboree produced by Dan Manuel will take place Saturday night March 21st during the Dogwood Trails  at Palestine High School Auditorium at 7 P.M.  The Palestine High School auditorium is located 2 blocks east of Hwy 19 south and Loop 256 in Palestine.   “The March show is one of my favorite each year” said Dan Manuel producer. The Jamboree begins its 16th year of production on March 21st. and  the show   will feature, "Shake Rattle and Roll".   They  have been featured on numerous Opry’s and country music shows throughout Texas and other places.  Also featured that night will be Mark Bryant of Tyler.  If you like classic country music, you will love this show.    “Classic Country music will  fill the auditorium that evening.  Performances by the artists will really bring back memories of a few years ago when  some these songs were  leading the country charts with number one hits. ” said Dan Manuel producer of the show.  Joe Hancock,  “Flo”, Sissy Perry, Mike Kellogg, Jodi Brown, "Jus C. Leroy and Kid Roy" and  Manuel will be performing on the show as well.    Three young people will be competing in the Jamboree Talent search contest.  The contestants are all eighteen years of age  or  under.  “These kids are super talented and will  help make the evening an enjoyable experience”. The winner  will move to the finals  on Dec. 5th to compete for “Artist of the Year” and will receive a large cash award and a plaque naming them “Artist of the Year for 2020”.   Last year’s winner, Mary Claire  has gone on to bigger venues in country music, as well as previous winners in the contest. There are a number of talented young people in the East Texas area and many of them never get a chance to perform on venues like the Jamboree, so we have taken the liberty to allow them to do so” stated Dan Manuel producer.   We encourage all young people who would like to be on the show to schedule an audition.  Those wishing to audition for the June 20th show can call 903-724-2556 or 903-729-7080.  Those auditioning for the talent search contest must be eighteen years or younger. There is no entry fee for auditioning.

Reviews continue  to come in from all over Texas and other states as well about the Jamboree.  The quality of the Jamboree and the performers are equal in many respects, to other country music productions” according to Manuel.   If you have never attended one of the shows, make a point to bring the family out and enjoy the music, artists and comedy at the evening performance and vote for your  favorite artist  in the talent search  contest.

All of these young people competing are excited.  The winner  on the show that night will be selected by a panel of judges and audience vote.  The show is sponsored by local businesses and is designed as “family entertainment”.  Children often appear on the show as well as adults of varying ages.  “Many of the people who attend on a regular basis always return. This show is sure to be one of our best shows of the year” stated Manuel.  “Some of the best classic country songs and hits  will live in our memory and the performers that night will try to recreate some of the sounds and music that country music fans  have listened to through the years,” Manuel said. "Shake Rattle and Roll"  will thrill the attenders with great "doo-wop"  and rock and roll songs from the past.   The show starts at 7 P.M. and doors open at 6 P.M.  At the intermission door prizes donated by local merchants and businesses will be given away.
